eBook Readers

An ebook reader is a portable electronic device that is designed primarily for the purpose of reading digital books. They are similar to a tablet computer, although a tablet computer typically has a faster screen capable of higher refresh rates, which makes them more suitable for interaction. The main advantages of ebook readers are better readability of their screens, especially in bright sunlight, and longer battery life.

eBook Formats

The ePub format is an open standard for ebooks, and is rapidly gaining in popularity. The format can be read by, among others, Adobe Digital Editions (FREE download), the Kobo eReader, Apple's iBooks app on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, Barnes and Noble Nook, and Sony Reader.

Launched by Amazon, ebooks bought for Kindle are delivered over its wireless system called Whispernet, or you can transfer our Kindle ebooks from your computer to your Kindle reader by using a USB cable. If you want to buy our Kindle ebooks to read on your computer, you can download Kindle for PCs to do so (FREE download).

A format created by Adobe Systems, PDF files can be read on Adobe Reader (FREE download) and are supported on many ebook readers including Mobipocket, Sony Reader, Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Noble Nook, the iPad, PocketBook Reader, and the Kobo eReader. Also, PDF files can be read on the iPod Touch using the free Stanza app. On iPad, there are also many readers.
