What personal data we collect and why we collect it
The information we gather from you helps us personalise and continually improve your shopping experience with us. We use the information to handle orders, deliver products and services, process payments, communicate with you about orders, products, services and promotional offers, update our records and generally maintain your Chimera Books Ltd account, display content such as wish lists and recommend merchandise and services that might be of interest to you. We also use this information to improve our store, prevent or detect fraud or abuses, and to carry out technical, logistical or other functions on our behalf by third parties.
We receive and store any information you enter on our website or give us in any other way. You can choose not to provide certain information, but then you might not be able to take advantage of many of our features. You provide most information when you search for a product, place an order, provide information in My Account, email us, complete a questionnaire or a contest entry, compile a wish list or other gift registries, provide and rate reviews or employ other personal notification services.
Comments, Reviews and Testimonials
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you leave a review on our site we will email you to confirm your consent that we can approve and post it. Without a response to our email we will not presume consent and will therefore not post your review.
If you send a testimonial to us regarding anything about Chimera Books (our site, our books, our service etc), we will email you to confirm your consent that we can post it. Without a response to our email we will not presume consent and will therefore not post your testimonial.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
If you contact us through our contact form we only keep submissions (name, email address and message content) for the period required for customer service purposes. Immediately the reason for contact has been resolved it is our procedure that all data is deleted. We do not use the information submitted for marketing purposes. Nor is the information submitted shared with any third parties.
Examples of the information we collect and analyse include the Internet protocol address used to connect your computer to the Internet, email address, password, computer and connection information such as browser type and version, your operating system and platform, purchase history – which we sometimes aggregate with similar information from other customers to create features such as Top Sellers – the full Uniform Resource Locators (URL) clickstream to, through and from our website (including date and time), cookie number, and products you viewed or searched for.
If you do leave cookies turned on, be sure to sign off when you finish using a shared computer.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one month.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
We are currently sending no data to any third parties for analytics purposes.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
How we protect your data
We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts your information. We reveal only the first and last four digits of your credit/debit card numbers when confirming an order. Needless to say we transmit the complete card number to the appropriate card company during order processing, but beyond this we do not store credit/debit card details nor do we share customer details with any 3rd parties.
It is important for you to protect against unauthorised access to your password and your computer. Be sure to sign off when you finish using a shared computer.
