This notice describes our Privacy Policy, and by visiting and patronising Chimera Books you are accepting and consenting to the practices described herein.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

The information we gather from you helps us personalise and continually improve your shopping experience with us. We use the information to handle orders, deliver products and services, process payments, communicate with you about orders, products, services and promotional offers, update our records and generally maintain your Chimera Books Ltd account, display content such as wish lists and recommend merchandise and services that might be of interest to you. Comments, Reviews and Testimonials

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. Here is their Privacy Policy. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you leave a review on our site we will email you to confirm your consent that we can approve and post it. Without a response to our email we will not presume consent and will therefore not post your review.

If you send a testimonial to us regarding anything about Chimera Books (our site, our books, our service etc), we will email you to confirm your consent that we can post it. Without a response to our email we will not presume consent and will therefore not post your testimonial.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

If you contact us through our contact form we only keep submissions (name, email address and message content) for the period required for customer service purposes. Immediately the reason for contact has been resolved it is our procedure that all data is deleted. We do not use the information submitted for marketing purposes. Nor is the information submitted shared with any third parties.

We receive and store certain types of information whenever you interact with us. How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

If you make a purchase on our site we process payments through PayPal, and send to them data including information required to process or support the payment, such as the purchase total and your customer billing information: name, email, address, city/state/zip, unique payment identifier and payment provider identifier. How we protect your data

We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts your information. We reveal only the first and last four digits of your credit/debit card numbers when confirming an order. Needless to say we transmit the complete card number to the appropriate card company during order processing, but beyond this we do not store credit/debit card details nor do we share customer details with any 3rd parties.

It is important for you to protect against unauthorised access to your password and your computer. Be sure to sign off when you finish using a shared computer.
