Conditions Relating to the Sale of Products to You

This section deals with conditions relating to the sale of products by Chimera Books Ltd to you.

Our Contract

When you place an order to purchase a product from Chimera Books Ltd, we will send you an email confirming receipt and details of your order. Your order represents an offer to us to purchase a product that is accepted by us when we send email confirmation to you that we have despatched that product to you. That acceptance will be complete at the time we send the despatch confirmation email to you. Any products on the same order which we have not confirmed in a despatch confirmation email to have been despatched do not form part of that contract.

Pricing and Availability

Beyond the information for products sold by us on the website, including on each product information page, we cannot be specific about availability. Please note that despatch estimates are just that; they are not guaranteed despatch times and should not be relied upon as such. As we process your order we will inform you by email of any products in your order that turn out to be unavailable.

Our prices are inclusive of UK VAT at the appropriate rate on those goods that qualify for UK VAT.

Despite our best efforts, a small number of the many products in our site may be wrongly priced. However, we verify prices as part of our despatch procedures, and if a product’s correct price is lower than our stated price, we charge the lower amount and send you the product. If a product’s correct price is higher than our stated price we may, at our discretion, contact you for instructions before despatch or cancel your order and notify you of such cancellation.

At Chimera Books Ltd we want you to be delighted every time you shop with us, so you have the right to cancel an order and receive a full refund, without giving a reason, within 7 days of placing it. This applies to all our products except for download items (i.e. ebooks).

You can do so by sending an email with the subject ‘Cancellation’ via our Contact Us page, giving your reason for wanting to return your purchase. Please also state your original order number. If your order has already been despatched when we receive your cancellation we will deduct the cost of post and packaging from your refund. And if the goods have been despatched, upon receipt you must return them to us unopened and at your expense. For your protection we recommend you use a recorded delivery service. If you cancel an order that has not yet been despatched we will not of course have to deduct the cost of post and packaging from your refund.

If, however, a physical item is defective please email us giving a full description of the fault. If we ask you to return the product it must be sent securely wrapped in its original packaging, for a refund or replacement of that item, within 30 days of purchase.

Cooling-off Period

We respect your rights under law, which allow you to withdraw from your purchase of a physical item within seven working days of the day after the date the item is delivered to you. This applies to all our products except for download items (i.e. ebooks).

To cancel your purchase under this cooling-off period please give the reason for the return, on the back of the delivery slip, as contract cancellation. Then package the relevant item securely and send it to us at the address above with the delivery slip so that we receive it within seven working days of the day after the date the item was delivered to you.

Please note that you will be responsible for the costs of returning the goods to us unless we delivered the item to you in error, or if the item is faulty. As soon as we receive notice of your cancellation of this order, we will refund the relevant part of the purchase price for that item together with the original postage charge. We are unable to refund any express or courier component of the postage charge.

In all cases, for your protection we recommend that you use a recorded delivery service.

If ordering physical goods from Chimera Books Ltd for delivery outside the UK you may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once the package reaches the specified destination. Any additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by you. We have no liability or control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be. Customs policies vary from country to country, so you should contact your local customs office for further information. Additionally, please note that when ordering from Chimera Books Ltd, you are considered the importer of record and must comply with all laws and regulations of the country in which you are receiving the goods. Our international customers should be aware that cross-border deliveries are subject to opening and inspection by customs authorities.

Health & Safety

By purchasing any product from the Chimera Books Ltd website, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the following:

Chimera Books Ltd will not be held responsible for any negligent use or misuse of products purchased from us. Nothing in these guidelines should be thought to supersede, or to alter, or to take precedence over manufacturer instructions. If no instructions are issued and you have a query about how to use any product you are purchasing, we request that you consult the manufacturer.

Alteration of Service or Amendments to the Conditions

We reserve the right to make changes to our website, policies, and these Terms & Conditions at any time. You will be subject to the policies in force at the time you use the website or order goods from us, unless any change to those policies or these conditions is required to be made by law or government authority, in which case it will apply to orders previously placed by you. If any of these conditions is deemed invalid, void, or for any reason unenforceable, that condition will be deemed severable and will not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining condition.

Events Beyond Our Reasonable Control

We will not be held responsible for any delay or failure to comply with our obligations under these conditions if the delay or failure arises from any cause that is beyond our reasonable control.

If you breach these conditions and we take no action, we will still be entitled to use our rights and remedies in any other situation where you breach these conditions.

Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom. You agree, as we do, to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the UK courts.
